There is a wide variety of bacterial infections that Zithromax is used in treating. These include sexually transmitted diseases, skin infections, bronchitis, tonsillitis, pneumonia and ear infections.
There are three forms in which this medication can come: capsules, tablets and liquid. Usually, it is taken once a day for between two to five days. It should be taken precisely as directed. In other words, you should not take more or less of it than prescribed or more or less often than your doctor has directed. If you are taking the liquid, make sure that you shake it well before you take it each time in order to ensure that it is evenly mixed. You will then want to take it either one hour before or two hours after you eat a meal. On the other hand, if you are taking either the capsules or the tablets, then make sure that you do so while drinking a full glass of water. It can be taken with or without food but if it upsets your stomach, then make sure that you do take it with your meals. Regardless of which type of Zithromax you take, make sure that you continue taking it even when you are feeling better. This means that you should not stop taking it without speaking with your doctor first.
Zithromax is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic that prevents bacteria from being able to grow. This happens as the antibiotic interferes with the bacteria's ability to make proteins. Due to the way in which proteins are made in bacteria within humans, these antibiotics will not interfere with a person's ability to make proteins. The chemicals within Zithromax are related to Erythromycin and Clarithromycin, which is also known as Biaxin. Even so, Zithromax is an unusual medication because it actually stays in your body for quite some time. This allows for this medication to be taken only once a day and for a shorter period for most infections. Zithromax is effective in treating a wide variety of bacteria organisms. These include Staphylococcus Aureus, Hemophilus Influenzae, Mycoplasma Pneumoniae, Streptococus Pneumoniae, Mycobacterium Avium and numerous other types of bacterial infections.
If you happen to miss a dose of this medication, you should simply take it as soon as possible. However, if it is close to the time when you should be taking your next dosage, then you should skip the dosage that you have missed and continue with your regular schedule. In other words, make sure that you do not take two doses at the same time.
Make sure that you store your Zithromax at between 59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (15 to 30 degrees Celsius). If you are taking the constituted suspension Zithromax, then it should be stored at between 41 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (5 to 30 degrees Celsius). It should be discarded of whenever you have taken the full dosage or within ten days, whichever comes first. Before each use, you need to be sure to shake the medication well, which is why the bottle is over-sized. Make sure that you keep this medication tightly closed at all times.
