Strattera (Atomoxetine)

Uses
Strattera is developed to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This medicine may be prescribed by your doctor for other health states.

Strattera Information
This product increases certain chemicals (e.g., norepinephrine) in the brain, which may affect behaviour and attention.

Follow your doctor’s recommendations when use this product.

Never open capsules before use. Do not use broken capsules. If the content of the capsule gets into your eye, immediately rinse it with water, and contact your health care provider.

Take your dose with a glass of water. This medicine has to be taken once per day usually. However, ask your doctor about your dosage and treating schedule.

Strattera Safety Information
In case of missing a dose of Strattera, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your net dose, take only that one, and return to your usual schedule. Simply skip the missed dose. Never take a double dose at once. In case of overdose seek the medical care right away.

Keep Atomoxetine protected from moisture, heat and light, at the room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C). Keep this product in place inaccessible for children, away from pets. Do not store in the bath room.

Do not take this product if you are taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAO) (e.g., Isocarboxazid, Phenelzine) within the past 14 days. You should not be treating with Strattera if you are suffering from glaucoma. Some ADHD medicines have caused sudden death in children and adolescents who had severe heart problems (or congenital heart defects). Consult with your health provider about the usage of this medicine.

Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications (even non-prescription!), herbal products or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy!

Make sure to inform your health care provider in case you have heart disease, a heart rhythm disorder, or recent heart attack; a history of stroke, blood clots, or heart attack; coronary artery disease; problems with urination; high or low blood pressure; a personal or family history of mental illness, psychotic disorder, bipolar illness, depression, or suicide attempt; a congenital heart defect; liver disease. Inform your doctor in case anyone in your family has died suddenly from a heart problem.

Do not take Atomoxetine if you have any allergic reactions to any of the Strattera components.

Patients who take Strattera have to be monitored closely. Patients, treating with Strattera may be at risk for suicidal thoughts or actions. Inform health care provider immediately in case of following signs: irritable behaviour, anxiety, restlessness, any unusual change in mood or behaviour, depressed mood. The family members or other care givers have to be aware of this.

Strattera Side Effectss
Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to the Strattera. Among the side effects, caused by Strattera may occur light-headedness, vertigo, fainting, and sleepiness may occur. Side effects may become more intensive if you use it with certain medicines or alcohol.This product may cause vertigo, light-headedness, or fainting. These effects may become more intensive as a result of hot weather, work outs, fever, or alcohol drinking. Sit up or stand slowly to avoid them, especially in the morning. Sit or lie down at the first symptoms of these effects.

Stop taking the medicine and contact health care provider immediately if you experience any of these severe side effects: feeling light-headed or fainting; increased blood pressure (severe headache, chest pain, numbness, blurred vision, trouble concentrating, seizure); shortness of breath, chest pain, fast or uneven heartbeats; urinating less than usual or not at all; unusual thoughts or behavior, hallucinations, aggression, (seeing things that are not there). Seek medical attention immediately also if you have severe allergic reactions (rash; difficulty breathing; hives; tightness in the chest; itching; mouth, face, lips, or tongue swelling).

Consult with your health care specialist in case if the most common side effects are continuous, and if they bother you too much: feeling dizzy or drowsy; skin rash or itching; irritability; cough, dry mouth; vomiting, stomach pain, nausea, loss of appetite, constipation; impotence, decreased sex drive; problems with orgasm; increased menstrual cramps; insomnia.

Consult with your health care specialist in case of any disturbing side effects.

Consult with a health care provider in case of pregnancy. Risks and benefits of taking this medication during the pregnancy and breast-feeding period should be closely discussed. The absorption into the breast milk has not been researched. This medication may be harmful to a fetus. Do not take Atomoxetine without having talked to the health care provider in case you are pregnant, have plans for the pregnancy, or if you are breast-feeding.

Strattera is not recommended for long-term use. If you need prolonged treatment, your health care specialist may advice you other medications.

Children and teenagers may require check of growth and weight, while they are treating with Strattera. This medication may slow growth.

Children under 6 years of age should not be treated with this preparation.

Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications (even non-prescription!), herbal products or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy!

Do not share your medicine with those, for whom it has not been prescribed.
